The Story of Jörmungandr, The Serpent of Midgard
In Norse mythology, Jörmungandr was one of the three children of Loki. Jörmungandr was eventuallu cast into the ocean by Odin, but to Odin's surprise, Jörmungandr consumed the ocean, and grew so big that it could encircle all of Midgard.
The Norse god Thor, Odin's son, battled Jörmungandr multiple times. In the final battle, Thor defeated the giant serpent, but Jörmungandr had inflicted multiple venomous bites on Thor during the battle, which eventually led to Thor's death.
Jörmungandr was prophecised to appear at the end times, and was a symbol of power and strength.
